It was our belief that the effort needed to position the Magic system for the future was at least as great as the effort needed to implement a new version. MEDITECH was never the question. The question was “What flavor of MEDITECH would we go with?” When Beverly was first trying to decide, 6.0 was not an option. Then, in June of 2007, MEDITECH announced that there was this 6.0 version. After examining the fundamental design philosophy of 6.0, we decided that the future had arrived. to that point yet. However, the core team seems to like 6.0 very much. mm: How many people are involved in the project? morrow: The core team consists of about mm: What advice would you offer other 60 people who are spending different amounts of time on the project. Altogether, my plans call for about 50,000 hours of effort. mm: How did the migration fit into the hospital’s plan? was geared toward achieving a paperless HIS that would meet all of the needs of physicians and patients for EHR and PHR, as well as satisfying the payor and governmental requirements. Cost – All new servers and SAN, software, add ons, email server, etc. Infrastructure – From Core to edge, right down to the desktop. Comfort – The staff and end users are very comfortable with Magic. Learning – 6.0 is different.
