AAO - 2009 Joint Meeting Brochure - (Page 32) “San Francisco has so much to offer that whether you have only a couple of hours or a couple of days, you can have a memorable time. If you have only a little time, maximize it at the Moscone Center. It includes the Yerba Buena Gardens complex with Zeum (a family-oriented art and technology center), an ice skating rink, a bowling alley, a hand-carved carousel, a playground and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Adjacent to the complex is the Metreon, which includes some great restaurants, a multiplex theater and outdoor gardens. Nearby are the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the new Contemporary Jewish Museum, the unique and historical Cartoon Museum, and casual dining restaurants such as Mo’s Grill. If you have a little more time, stroll over to Market Street and catch an historic streetcar to the Ferry Building overlooking San Francisco Bay. There you can eat your way through the building by hitting a variety of excellent restaurants or nibbling samples of artisan cheese, wine, olive oil, chocolate, bread, organic meat and produce and more. Or ride the streetcar up Market to San Francisco Center, a visually stunning shopping mall with delicious, inexpensive eateries.” Andrew Iwach, MD “My wife, Tammy, and I love to spend a leisurely afternoon in Golden Gate Park. It has something for everyone. We suggest enjoying the serenity of Stow Lake or the Rose Garden, a fine art exhibit at the de Young Museum, or the jungle of tropical flowers at the Conservatory of Flowers. Make sure to take a few snacks and something to drink if you plan on spending more than half a day. I suggest downloading a map to guide your exploration and to find other popular places in the park (e.g., the buffalo herd).
